BMI Calculator
The BMI Calculator works out your Body Mass Index from your height and weight, in either metric (kilograms and centimeters) or imperial (pounds and feet/inches) units. It shows your BMI value along with the standard underweight, normal, overweight and obese ranges for reference.
BMI is a widely used, quick screening measure — not a diagnosis — and this calculator is meant for that same general, informational purpose: a fast way to check where a height-to-weight ratio falls.
How to Use the BMI Calculator
- Open the BMI Calculator (button below).
- Choose metric or imperial units.
- Enter your height and weight, and read your BMI value and category instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do the BMI categories mean?
The standard ranges are: below 18.5 (underweight), 18.5–24.9 (normal), 25–29.9 (overweight), and 30+ (obese) — this tool displays your value against those same standard ranges.
Is BMI accurate for everyone?
BMI is a general screening tool and doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, age, or body composition — athletes and older adults in particular can get a misleading number. It's a starting point, not a diagnosis.
Should I make health decisions based on this number?
No — for anything beyond general curiosity, talk to a doctor or qualified health professional. See our Disclaimer page for the full details.
