Markup Calculator
The Markup Calculator goes the other direction from a margin calculator -- starting from your cost and a target markup percentage, it tells you exactly what selling price to charge.
It's a fast way to price products consistently across a catalog using a standard markup rule.
How to Use the Markup Calculator
- Open the Markup Calculator.
- Enter the cost price of the item.
- Enter your target markup percentage.
- Read the resulting selling price and profit per unit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is markup the same as profit margin?
No -- markup is calculated on cost, while margin is calculated on selling price. A 50% markup on a ₹100 item gives a ₹150 price, which is only a 33.3% profit margin.
Can I use this for percentage discounts too?
This tool is specifically for adding a markup to reach a selling price. For discounts off an existing price, use the Discount Calculator instead.
Does this include tax?
No, this calculates a pre-tax selling price based purely on cost and markup. Add any applicable sales tax or GST separately.
